Reese Witherspoon took to Instagram on Friday to announce that she is filing for divorce from her husband Jim Toth.
“It is with great care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorceWitherspoon wrote.
“We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and we are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for all that we have created together,” he added in the message, which was signed “Reese and Jim.”
As the post indicates, TMZ reports the split is amicable.
“Our highest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter,” Witherspoon continued. “These issues are never easy and they are extremely personal. We really appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”
The couple first married in 2011 and share a 10-year-old son, Tennessee.
Witherspoon chose to announce the break with talent agent Jim Toth just two days after her 47th birthday.
It is the end of his second marriage. She was first married to actor Ryan Phillippe from 1999 to 2008.
The actress has been active on social media leading up to the divorce announcement, posting three separate, unrelated items to her Instagram grid in the past day alone.
Two of the posts were to promote his new Apple TV Show “My Kind of Country” a competition series featuring different styles of country music.
The other was promoting the new Amazon Prime series “Daisy Jones and the Six,” for which she serves as an executive producer.
