Ree Drummond’s daughter Alex and her husband Mauricio Scott got help announcing the sex of their unborn baby from their beloved golden retriever George.
In an adorable video posted to her Instagram on Monday, the 27-year-old Texas A&M University graduate, who works for her famous mother and husband, allowed her dog to reveal the gender of her child.
After meeting outside in their backyard, the couple gave George a cupcake with either pink or blue frosting.
After seeing the pink frosting, once the dog got halfway through his second treat, Alex immediately exclaimed, “It’s a girl!”
“I hope George loves his little sister half as much as he loved those cupcakes!” Alex wrote in the caption of the post.

Underneath the post, Alex’s sister Paige sweetly wrote: “Yesssss!!! Can’t wait to meet my niece!”
According to Alex’s mother’s blog, The Pioneer Woman, Ree initially advised the couple, who tied the knot in 2021, to wait to find out the sex of their baby.
‘Before I share the news, I’d like to make it clear that a) I encouraged Alex and Mauricio not to find out the sex of their baby, and b) once I realized they were going to find out, I encouraged them to make a gender reveal pizza instead of a more traditional method… or, alternatively, I offered to dedicate a full five minutes of this Thursday’s Pawhuska fireworks display to revealing the sex of their baby,’ she began.
Ree went on to explain that she learned that “the whole process isn’t about her.”
Even though the couple didn’t follow her advice, Ree said she’s “really” really “happy for them” and “thought their little intimate gender reveal was really sweet.”
As for becoming a grandmother to a little girl, Ree gushed: “To say I’m excited is an understatement! I love my girls so much. I love the women they’re becoming. I love that they’re bosses over their younger siblings. I love my girls so much.”
He also said that his son-in-law will be “the best dad” and Alex “the best mom.”
Ree also predicted that her husband, Ladd Drummond, a multigenerational rancher, will have Alex and Mauricio’s baby girl “on a horse when she’s two years old.”

Ree admitted that learning she would become a grandmother at 55 was a surprise.
“Gosh, it’s a totally different feeling than I thought it would be,” she told People. “Because we’re just empty nesters, Ladd and I feel like we’ve just finished raising our kids — we’re not even done! A couple of them are in college, so we’re still raising our kids.”
She confessed: ‘We weren’t in a big hurry to get into the grandparenting stage… what I think about most is – this is my honest answer – how happy I am for my daughter and her husband.’
The future addition to the family will be the first grandchild of The Pioneer Woman of The Food Network.
Last month, Alex revealed that his baby was due this winter.
“Thank you Lord for this beautiful gift,” the happy couple added, alongside photos of the couple posing with their dog wearing a bandana that says “Big Brother,” holding ultrasound pictures and smiling at each other. “Thank you Lord for this beautiful gift.”

Alex’s sister Paige also chimed in, writing: “I’m so happy I could cry. Can’t wait to be an aunt! Love you all so much.”
Ree Drummond, 55, was overjoyed by the news, writing in the comments section: “I’m beyond happy for you two! (And the whole family!) Love you Alex and Mauricio!”
The blogger, author and television personality then shared the news on The Pioneer Woman Website.
“Yes, it’s true. Alex and Mauricio are expecting a puppy, though I wouldn’t be surprised if they (or I) treated the news of a new puppy the same way we would a pregnancy announcement,” Ree shared on her blog.
“My first baby is having her first baby. My daughter is having a son,” the Bartlesville, Oklahoma, native continued. “It’s surreal and I’m sure all of you grandparents can relate to the feeling of momentarily leaving your body after hearing similar news.”
The couple, who met during their freshman year at Texas A&M University, ended up tying the knot at Drummond Ranch in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, in May 2021.
The happy couple previously revealed earlier in 2022 that they were in no rush to become parents and were “taking their time, not rushing, just trying to enjoy being married a little bit.”
“We can’t wait to meet you little one. Baby Scott is joining the party this winter! Thank you Lord for this precious gift,” the happy couple said while announcing the pregnancy on Instagram.
The couple, who met during their freshman year at Texas A&M University, ended up tying the knot at Drummond Ranch in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, in May 2021.
Just over two years later, the couple has seemingly had all the alone time they need before deciding to expand their family, although George, the golden retriever, has been adopted into the family.
Ree became a mother for the first time in 1997, a year after marrying her husband Ladd Drummond, with the arrival of 26-year-old son Alex.
The couple would go on to welcome three more children into the world, including daughter Paige, 24, and sons Bryce, 21, and Todd, 20, over a four-year period.
Fast forward to 2018, and the family grew once again with the addition of an adopted son, 21-year-old Jamar.
Ree, 55, and Ladd Drummond, 55, have been married for more than 27 years and counting.
“After a year and a half of living in our house, he’s an inextricable part of our crazy family,” Ree shared with The Pioneer Woman in November 2020.
Drummond became known for her blog, The Pioneer Woman, which documented her life in rural Oklahoma.
Building on the success of her blog, she went on to star in her own television show of the same name on The Food Network beginning in 2011.
The foodie has also written cookbooks, a children’s book and an autobiography, and launched a “homestyle lifestyle” line in 2015 that includes cookware, cutlery, appliances, apparel and outdoor products.
