Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond joyfully announced on her website this week that she has become a grandmother.
Her daughter Alex, 27, revealed this June that she and her husband Mauricio Scott were expecting their first child this winter.
Their bundle of joy arrived in time for Christmas when Alex gave birth to her daughter at 2:30 a.m. this Wednesday in Dallas, Texas.
Ree shared a touching image of herself cradling her ‘perfect’ newborn granddaughter and, just below, she revealed the baby’s name.
‘My heart is exploding with happiness, so I couldn’t wait to share with you the news that Alex and Mauricio’s baby girl, Sofía, was born early this morning!’ she wrote.
‘My daughter just had a daughter. “Honestly, I’m still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing (and my heart),” the TV personality enthused.

Ree and her husband Ladd, to whom she has been married for 28 years, were able to make it to the Dallas hospital in time for the birth.
“Mauricio took care of Alex’s every need, to the point that the rest of us wondered if we needed to be there,” Ree said. “What a gift to Ladd and me, for Alex to have a partner in life who demonstrates his love through such clear actions.”
She described the baby as “perfect” and added: “I say that as objectively as possible.” But I’m not kidding…she’s perfect. For example, if you were to search for “perfect” on Miriam Webster, it would reference Sofia Scott and maybe even show a photo of her. Although technically it would probably be an encyclopedia.
Ree warmly told her fans: “I want Alex’s aunts and uncles on the Internet, who have watched her grow up on my blog and cooking show, to be able to celebrate the best day of her life… and certainly mine and hers. “Ladd.”
He closed by expressing his gratitude by writing: ‘Thank you God for Alex and Mauricio, and for my beautiful granddaughter Sofia Marie Scott!’
Alex and Mauricio were married at Drummond Ranch in rural Oklahoma on May Day 2021 and announced she was pregnant in June.
‘We can’t wait to meet you, little one. Baby Scott will be joining the party this winter!’ they wrote in a joint Instagram post. ‘Thank you Lord for this precious gift.’
Weeks later, they revealed they were expecting a baby girl in a sweet video that showed their golden retriever George chomping on a cupcake with pink filling.

In September, Ree posted photos on social media of her going wedding dress shopping with Paige, indicating that wedding plans are underway.
Her new set of photos from Alex’s hospital room includes a touching snapshot of Paige on a couch, holding her newborn niece Sofia.
