Reddit is now run by r/malefashionadvice, which was for a time the largest subreddit still shut down in protest of the platform’s API pricing changes. The subreddit is now open, meaning Reddit users can search the community for content once again, albeit in a restricted mode, meaning only certain users can make new posts.
As we reported last week, the moderators of r/mensfashionadvice, a subreddit with over 5 million subscribers, had deprived the community and was driving its users onto Discord and Substack. Three former moderators of r/malefashionadvice tell the edge which were removed from the subreddit on Thursday. “We have more or less been waiting for the removal for the last few days,” says one former mod, who asked to go by “Walker,” says in an email to the edge. Now, the community mod list currently has only one moderator: ModCodeofConduct. Although despite the “restricted” status of the subreddit, someone was able to do a post on thursday which encourages community members to join Discord.
It looks like Discord is gaining some traction. Another former mod, “Zach”, said the edge last week it had 2,000 users; Now, it says it’s up to 5,000. “The community and regular customers who come to Discord have generally been courteous and good company,” Walker says.
Reddit did not immediately respond to a request for comment. As of this writing, ModCode of Conduct He is also the sole moderator of:
