William Contreras’ 111.8 mph two-run homer in the top of the third inning gave the Milwaukee Brewers a 3-0 lead against the Boston Red Sox on Friday night. The screamer not only landed in the seats of the Green Monster at Fenway Park, but also destroyed a fan’s in-game gift.
When the two Red Sox fans avoided trying to take one to the face, the ball bounced behind them and hit their popcorn container, sending the kernels flying.
Fans weren’t disappointed for long. Tim Dillard, Brewers analyst I handed them some fresh popcorn later in the game.
But their night wasn’t over.
After the game, while AppleTV+’s Tricia Whitaker interviewed Contreras, he had him sign the bucket of popcorn he hit, and then the Red Sox pair met the Brewers catcher.

Contreras, who is fifth in MLB with 42 RBIs and leads all catchers with a .337 batting average, finished the game, a 7-2 Brewers victory, going 2 for 4. He can now include 1 Destroyed cube on your season stat line.
“I told them that if they want me to pay for the popcorn, I’ll pay for it with some tickets,” Contreras said.
