  • The video ends when he is told that he has broken the strict rules of the park

A reckless tourist was caught stepping out of his car during a safari just a few meters away from a pack of lions in South Africa.

Another tourist recorded the dangerous moment last Tuesday in the neighborhood of Orpen Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park.

Shocking images show two lions walking on the road and hanging around while people in surrounding cars take photos.

A tourist then jumps out of the front seat and stands on the open road, with nothing between him and the dangerous animals.

Behind the camera you can hear shocked panting as spectators watch the man keep taking photos that are apparently unaware of the danger he is running.

For safety reasons, visitors to the park are not allowed to leave their vehicles and at the end of the video another car drives alongside the tourist to tell him.

The footage comes just two weeks after a woman was caught on camera when she climbed into a lion cage at a New York City zoo.

Myah Autry, 32, was filmed waving at the lion from the enclosure.

In the video she sees the lion staring into the eyes while fellow visitors are watching anxiously.

The lion gave Autry a curious look as she started to dance and taunt him.

The only thing that separated her and the lion was a concrete moat around the exhibition.

The police are looking for Autry, who lives in Harlem, since the video went viral on social media.
