Rebecca Gibney has given her fans an update on her beloved mother Shirley’s health.

The Packed to the Rafters star, 59, took to Instagram recently to inform her followers that her mother is recovering in the hospital after a fall.

Rebecca posted a photo of her mother lying in a hospital bed with a smile and a thumbs up.

Alongside the image, the New Zealand-born actress wrote that she had asked her mother’s permission to share the photo.

“Mum has said it’s okay to post this photo because it looks a lot worse than it is, but she had a little fall and will be back in hospital for a while.” “There’s nothing broken except for some cracks and bruises,” Rebecca said.

“I know how much you love reading the comments and well wishes from all of you, so if you could send some prayers and a lot of love Shirl’s way, we would all appreciate it.”

‘Healing energy travels. “Thank you for the love,” the Halifax fp actress added.

Last week, she gave another update on Shirley’s progress, suggesting her mother would be in the hospital for a while longer.

‘Just an update. Mom will be in the hospital for a few more weeks. Recovery is slow but it is much better. Thank you for all the love,’ he said in another Instagram post.

In the same Instagram post, Rebecca also took the time to reflect on the “fragile state” of the world right now.

‘Greed, power, hatred, old people creating wars that no one wants. It can be overwhelming. But so can love, kindness and the fight for peace. Keep the faith. Do the thing. Life is precious. And love will find a way,” he wrote.

It comes after Rebecca was recently inducted into the TV Week Logie Hall of Fame by her son Zac Bell, 19, in a historic achievement.

Rebecca spoke of her joy at taking home the award, saying she is “completely overwhelmed” and “incredibly humbled” by the honor.

So last night has to be up there with one of the best! Being inducted into the Hall of Fame had never been something I had considered and then witnessing not only so many dear friends saying so many incredible things followed by my son; those who saw it would have seen my reaction,” he posted.

‘I am still completely overwhelmed, incredibly humbled and very proud of this honor. Thank you to the people who reached out; there were so many and I shed many tears reading the messages.’

Rebecca said that as a child growing up “in a small town (New Zealand) with huge self-doubt”, it “meant a lot” to be honored in Australia.

“For a girl born in a small town in New Zealand with enormous self-doubt, to be honored in this way by a country I have lived in and loved since I was a teenager… has meant a lot to me,” she added.

Rebecca is only the fourth woman inducted into the TV Week Logie Hall of Fame in 64 years, following Noni Hazlehurst, Kerri-Anne Kennerley and the late Ruth Cracknel.

Rebecca is best known for directing the 2008 Australian instant classic Packed to the Rafters as the country’s favorite TV mum Julie Rafters, while she has also appeared in local classics such as The Flying Doctors, Halifax fp and Stingers.
