Divorce: After rumors of a split, Monique Samuels has officially filed for divorce from her NFL star husband of over 10 years, Chris Samuels
Monique and Chris have been plagued by split rumors lately, but last year the duo showed some unity after People announced they were going their separate ways.
The former Bravo star flashed her wedding ring as she stood next to her NFL star husband in an Instagram Story posted in October.
She also insisted that they weren’t breaking up on her YouTube channel, Tea with Moniquefollowing the publication of the article.
“It’s no secret that Chris and I have struggled in some areas of our marriage and anyone who watched Love & Marriage: DC last year, you’ve all seen the fights, you’ve all seen all this was going on,” she explained.
Monique added that what viewers saw was the culmination of all their troubles and called it her “cry for help”.
“It was a lot of confusion, it was crazy building up to this 10 year marker of our marriage and when you’ve been married for so long and when you have things that say to you, ‘Look, this isn’t not satisfied or I haven’t been heard”, you start to get frustrated and it’s like, “Oh my God, is life going to be? I can’t take it anymore,” she said. “So what you saw on Love & Marriage: DC last season was my cry for help.”
‘Are Chris and I getting a divorce? No! We will not divorce,” she said. “Are we going our separate ways? Absolutely not, nobody said that. Have we filed a legal separation? No. Have we filed for divorce? No. Is there a document proving divorce applications? No. Did we separate to the point of breaking up? No.’
Monique said she and Chris also receive one-on-one counseling as they seek to work through “their personal issues” and “focus on ourselves”.

Shared speculation: Monique and Chris have been plagued by breakup rumors lately
The couple have been visibly private about their relationship on Instagram since last year.
The last time Monique posted a photo of her husband on her Instagram grid was in December 2022.
Chris hadn’t posted anything from Monique to his own grid since December 2021, when he shared a message marking their 9th wedding anniversary.
The couple have endured relationship issues over the years and documented some of their struggles on the first season of Love & Marriage: DC.
In July, Monique insisted on entertainment tonight that her marriage would not succumb to the curse of reality TV.
She said: “People always say reality TV destroys your marriage. What people don’t realize is that Real Housewives of Potomac actually, in a way, saved my marriage.
“Chris and I, before we started filming this show, we were in a very difficult situation.

Family matters: The couple share three children, Christopher, nine; Milani, eight; and Chase, four
“We had lost all the meetings of our marriage. Once we started filming reality TV, it helped us because it forced us to date.
She added, “So we were able to hang out, rekindle that intimacy and be excited about each other.” So I won’t lie; RHOP season 2 saved my marriage.
“And at the end of the day, sometimes you have to go back to those moments. Because some of the things that I expressed on Love & Marriage: DC, people who watched Potomac saw that I had the same concerns at the time.
“So it’s not like it’s anything new.”
Monique left Real Housewives of Potomac in December 2021, stating she was ‘done’ with reality TV, before signing on for another show.

Public bickering: The couple’s relationship issues were on display during the first season of Love & Marriage: DC
She said at the time: ‘It was a wild ride. It’s not easy doing reality TV, and to be completely honest, I’m getting over it. I appreciate everything people have done for me, everyone who has been Team Monique – I love you all – but when you cross certain lines, there’s no turning back. And for me, my family is that bloodline.
She added: “The opinion of my family and my children and what they think of everything I do is more valuable than anyone’s opinion, so I’m indebted to it.”
