As Cynthia Bailey embarks on a new diet to shed some pesky pounds, she becomes aware of the pitfalls of another popular weight-loss method she’s also tried: Ozempic.
In an interview with E! NewsBailey revealed that she stopped taking the weight-loss drug after just a month after she noticed she was losing interest in eating food.
Bailey, 57, revealed she was convinced to start using it after seeing the results her friends achieved with it.
However, after Cynthia lost her appetite for beloved foods like barbecue ribs and crab cakes, she decided to quit.
Ongoing research into Ozempic shows that the drug has numerous side effects, including some that can impact mental health, both positive and negative.
“I initially wanted to take the photo because without a doubt all my friends look great in the photo,” she said.

‘I tried for a month. To be honest, it didn’t work for me because I still love food and I found myself just not interested in food. Eating is something I enjoy, but I just didn’t like the way it made me feel.’
Although Cynthia acknowledged that many people are happy with the drug, she admitted that it just wasn’t for her.
‘That wasn’t the case for me. I didn’t like it because when I get my crab cake and my salad and my oysters and my BBQ ribs, I want to enjoy them. I literally looked at the food and thought, “What is this? What am I supposed to do with this?”
Research has linked Ozempic to a variety of side effects, and has also raised concerns about the drug’s potential impact on mental health.
Cynthia’s new diet comes after she gained some weight over the past year, which she attributed to several factors, including being in a new relationship.
“I don’t know if it was the stress of filming Housewives season 16 that made me eat everything I could find and definitely drink everything I could find,” she said.
‘I have gained a lot of weight, fortunately. I have been in a relationship for the past 10 months now and I started not fitting into my clothes. I’m on the other side of menopause. There are so many reasons.’
Her goal is to simply fit into her clothes again. ‘I’m not trying to be skinny. I just want to put my clothes back on.”
Cynthia also recently announced her partnership with Weight Watchers, a points-based diet program endorsed by many celebrities.
And she’s already noticed results, including fitting into a pair of jeans she hasn’t been able to wear in a while.

Bailey raved about the results she was able to achieve in a video posted to her Instagram on Wednesday.
‘So it’s been two weeks since I announced that I’m starting my weight loss journey with WeightWatchers. Since I became a member, I have noticed many changes. Not just on the scale, but also in how my clothes fit.
“For example, I was finally able to zip up a pair of jeans that I haven’t worn in a while and I was just looking forward to a victory like that.
‘What I like most about WeightWatchers is how flexible and viable the program is. The points system makes it so easy for me to enjoy the foods I love, but in moderation and not feel deprived.

“Getting back into an exercise routine has also been a big part of this journey for me. Another big win was the personal support from my WeightWatchers registered dietitian.
“She’s given me so many helpful tips to make the program work with my busy lifestyle, like ways to incorporate ZeroPoints foods into my day.
“Having that one-on-one guidance has been a game changer.
