A couple police feared were planning to kidnap children to satisfy their perverted sexual desires and preyed on an intellectually disabled boy in a “house of horror”, a judge says.
Gosford District Court Judge David Wilson said the pair filmed themselves abusing the vulnerable youngster at their home on the New South Wales Central Coast for five years.
“The predatory behavior transformed what should have been a safe house for the victim into a house of horror,” Judge Wilson said.
“The attackers were trusted adults to the victim since he was a small child.”
The married couple, who cannot be identified, pleaded guilty to 46 charges each, including aggravated sexual intercourse with a cognitively disabled child, aggravated sexual intercourse in company, indecent assault and filming the child for child abuse material between 2016 and 2021, when the child was between 12 and 17 years old.
The couple will be sentenced at Gosford District Court after they pleaded guilty to 46 charges.
The wife, 49, also admitted possessing prohibited weapons, including a zombie sword, a Taser and a knife.
The couple was arrested in February 2021 after police raided their home for drugs and weapons and found a mobile phone with images of the boy being sexually abused. They also found 61 videos of the couple and the child.
Judge Wilson said on Wednesday that text messages between the couple discussing what they had been doing to the boy revealed their extreme depravity.
He said several text messages showed they were aware of the victim’s cognitive impairment.
In a text message exchange, the husband, 50, told his wife: “He’s an ugly, retarded, crying baby that you flirted with so much.”
The wife responded: ‘I still love the threesomes we had (with the victim), but now is the time for younger blood. Yes, I want to get pregnant by that ugly retard so I can abuse the child.
After the couple’s arrest, the victim told police that he had been forced to perform sexual acts on the couple since he was seven years old.
He said he would be invited to the couple’s home under false pretenses, but each time “it was to screw his wife, but he didn’t want to, but he had to.”
“I used to get free marijuana, ice and MDMA from him (the husband) to do that.”
In a text message exchange, the husband, 50, told his wife: “He’s an ugly, crying, retarded baby that you flirted with so much.”
Police also found around 300 “stories” written by the couple in the Notes section of an iPhone 11 dating back to 2016 and revealing their sexual proclivities.
Police said the stories, some as long as 2,500 words, showed how the couple wanted to have sex with young children and the lengths they would go to satisfy their sexual needs and desires.
Police claimed the stories showed the couple would have continued abusing children if they had not been arrested.
Police allege that the two had fantasies about taking in and abusing homeless or abandoned children and also talked about kidnapping children to satisfy their sexual urges.
Judge Wilson will summarize the case on Wednesday before sentencing the couple.
