A prison guard accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate used a girl’s name to mask his identity while she discussed her affair in secret text messages with a colleague, police allege.

Mother-of-two Amber Clavell, 25, allegedly had a relationship with armed robber Mark Kennedy, 27, at Geoffrey Pearce Correctional Centre, near Windsor, in Sydney’s northwest, between January and April.

According to court documents, Clavell allegedly discovered she was pregnant with Kennedy’s child in April and messaged her close friend and colleague Jessica Elguindy, who was also having an affair with another inmate, Beau Jones.

Police will allege that Clavell referred to Kennedy as ‘Molly’ while Elguindy used the code name ‘Bella’ for Jones.

“Last night I denied it, I took three (tests) and they were all positive… I feel like an idiot… How is it possible that the morning after pill didn’t work?” Clavell allegedly told Elguindy in a text message, according to the court. documents obtained by The Daily Telegraph.

Elguindy replied: ‘Have you two decided what you’re doing?’

“We’re not really going to have a proper discussion about that tonight… There’s a part of both of us right now that doesn’t want to get rid of it… He was very affectionate last night,” court documents allege.

Police will allege that a week after discovering she was pregnant, Kennedy ended the relationship after becoming jealous of her talking to other inmates.

Court documents allege that Clavell, who began working at the jail as a uniformed officer in 2022, snuck 33 grams of methamphetamine to give to Kennedy, which he hid in two balloons “on his body” along with a bag of tobacco.

It is also alleged in court documents that Clavell abused his access to internal corrective services systems to verify his prison lover’s contact with his wife via the jail phone and seek other information.

Corrective Services launched an investigation into allegations about Clavell’s conduct that led to both her and Elguindy being arrested on April 23.

Clavell, who is suspended from work without pay, was charged with having an intimate relationship with an inmate, two counts of accessing or modifying restricted data and placing prohibited drugs in lieu of drug care and supply.

Meanwhile, Elguindy, a former facilitator of the Intensive Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program at Geoffrey Pearce, was accused of having an intimate relationship with an inmate, accessing restricted data and misbehaving as a public office holder.

The charges against Elguindy relate not only to Jones, but also to a second inmate: Elijah Sila, an associate of Onefour.

According to court documents, the married mother of three sent love letters and photos of herself with sex toys to Jones’ smuggled phone.

When her device broke, she texted Clavell telling him her “heart ached” because she couldn’t risk smuggling “Bella” a new phone in case she lost her job, since she was the only person who supported his children.

In a message found on Jones’ illegal device, he boasted to a friend that he and a classmate had “IDAPT teachers in love with us” and that prison officials brought them “packages and vapes.”

Meanwhile, Elguindy was also striking up an “unprofessional friendship” with Sila, visiting him in segregation, sneaking with him to different places in the jail, and searching his information in restricted databases.

He was warned by the Correctional Services Investigation Unit that his relationship with Sila was under investigation, but he continued to engage in inappropriate behavior.

The couple denied having a sexual relationship, however, their name and phone number were found inside Sila’s personal diary.

Elguindy pleaded guilty to all charges this week and will be sentenced at a later date.

Clavell has not yet entered a plea and will return to court next week.
