A young single woman has revealed the cruel Hinge message a couple sent her after she swiped on their profile.

Sharing her story with Facebook page Bad Dates of Melbourne, the woman said she believed the man had paired up with her just to “be mean”.

‘Thanks for your like but you’re hitting too high. Try a man who is above his weight range, not with muscles below him. Be realistic,’ his message read.

The woman said she was sad when she read the message and then got angry at herself for feeling upset.

‘I felt incomparable immediately. “I didn’t want to get involved and I was worried what I might unleash on him or me if I did,” she said.

The woman added that she had complained to Hinge about the interaction and was surprised by their response.

The spokesperson who responded to the woman apologized for the man’s behavior.

“Members mistreating or disrespecting other members is clearly not in line with our Terms of Service, much less the atmosphere of trust and authenticity we want to foster on Hinge, and we appreciate you reporting this behavior to us,” they said.

‘We take these types of crimes very seriously and have taken appropriate action in this regard. Thank you again for taking the time to report this and please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help you.’

Australian women were furious when they read the woman’s story.

‘How fucking rude. That doesn’t say anything about you, that’s all about him. Bullet dodged, OP is too good for him,” one woman said.

‘Girls, he hates himself. He has nothing to do with you nor a reflection of you. “Only people who have no self-esteem and who hate themselves or their lives go out of their way to put others down,” said another.

A third said: “Imagine being so insecure that you go on dating apps to put other people down and feel better about yourself – that’s sad.” I’m glad he left the door because he’s not worth a minute of your time.

Others had experienced similar rude encounters online.

‘DISGUSTING! What happens to men? This happened to me too… this guy said: ‘I can’t believe I really liked your profile… you look too unapproachable, you should have pictures smiling, you know how to smile, right?’ Like what? He unleashed some sass and it was also incomparable…now I wish I had reported it,” one woman said.

‘I can totally empathize because very similar things have happened to me. I try to see these interactions as good, just showing their true colors so early saves you investing in them, but it’s hard not to take things seriously when they come at you with such personal attacks.’
