R&B icon Smokey Robinson has sparked rumors that he could perform at Britain's Glastonbury festival in June

As Glastonbury fans continue to rave about the final line-up, an R&B icon has hinted that he might be appearing at the festival ‘soon’.

The official line-up for Britain’s biggest festival was announced today – and fans have branded it ‘the worst ever’.

Several were unhappy that Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Shania Twain took the top spots on the Pyramid Stage this summer, while others were confused as to who co-star SZA even was.

However, one R&B man has sparked rumors that he could be turning up at Worthy Farm in Somerset in the near future.

In an interview with The sun at Elton John’s Oscar party in Los Angeles on Sunday, Motown legend Smokey Robinson was asked when he would be making his Glastonbury debut.

The singer, 84, ‘We’ve been talking about it for the last two weeks – probably soon.’

When pressed about whether he would hit the Pyramid stage in the future, he added: ‘It’s one of the things we’ve talked about.’

Smokey said he would ‘absolutely’ love to perform at the festival, adding: ‘I love the UK, man. We’ve had some of our best times in the UK.’

Although the crooner has had a career that has spanned a staggering 70 years, he has never performed at the world famous festival.

Almost 20 years ago in 2007, Smokey was ‘set to confirm an appearance’ at Glastonbury but it never happened, according to promoter Michael Eavis.

Smokey started his career in the 1950s, forming the group Matadors, which then became the world-famous The Miracles.

While with the band, he experienced incredible success with singles such as The Tears Of A Clown and The Tracks Of My Tears before going solo.

The 84-year-old continues to perform across North American venues.

If he does eventually agree to grace the Glastonbury stage, it would be his first UK show since the Radio 2 Live stage in Hyde Park in 2013.

Although Smokey Robinson may be keeping possible future performances close to his chest, fans unhappy with the Glastonbury line-up have made their feelings heard.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, many expressed their disappointment with the line-up and their annoyance that rumored Madonna appearances did not materialise.

‘What kind of lineup is this? I really haven’t heard of 70% of these actions.’; ‘This might just be the worst #Glastonbury lineup I’ve ever seen. Thoughts and prayers to those who managed to get a ticket.’

‘Good God, this is the worst Glastonbury line-up ever’; ‘What a downgrade from last year #glastonbury’; ‘Never heard of SZA? #glastonbury’; ‘It’s a terrible line-up. The headlines are embarrassing #Glastonbury’
