Raygun’s infamous Olympic routine has been resurrected, just in time for Halloween, with breakdancing tributes already springing up in Australian gardens.

Raygun, whose real name is Rachael Gunn, became a global source of ridicule during the Paris Olympics.

Dressed in an Australian tracksuit that looked more like a cricket uniform than a breakdancing outfit, Raygun jumped like a kangaroo and slithered across the floor like a snake in a routine that didn’t impress the judges.

She was completely defeated in all of her battle rounds as her routine went viral, with even people like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon making fun of her.

In a huge twist, she returned from Paris to be named the world’s number one breakdancer despite even coming close to winning a medal due to a quirk in the way dancers are ranked.

Now she is receiving a new honor in the front gardens of Australian homes, with handmade tributes to her routine being erected before Halloween on October 31.

A Melbourne resident has immortalized her kangaroo jumping routine with a paper mache effigy complete with an Australian tracksuit and an Olympic flag.

The artist remains unknown, but a local called radio station 3AW to inform them that the “statue” had been erected in a nature strip in their suburb.

“After his great breakdancing success in Paris, Raygun is now dancing on the streets of the north,” the caller said.

3AW presenter Ross Stevenson was stunned when shown a picture of the tribute.

“That’s amazing,” he said.

‘That’s amazing. Someone has put up a statue of Raygun.

—Is that in someone’s backyard or on a public road?

The caller responded, “It’s on the public road, on the nature strip.”

Stevenson said: ‘That’s extraordinary.

‘Look at the balance they’ve managed to achieve there with that statue. How do you do that?’

It’s not the only Raygun tribute recorded before Halloween.

Another house in Melbourne has used a fake skeleton, placing it in the kangaroo dancing position and dressing it in the same tracksuit.

Another tribute was taken of a skeleton in an unknown Australian location, with glowing red LED eyes.

Now, the Sydney-based breakdancer can also expect to see plenty of Australians dressed like her for the fun Christmas occasion.

‘Now I want to know if I can buy a Raygun suit somewhere. “This would be a hot article,” one person posted on social media platform X.

However, not everyone is impressed as GWS football fans are furious at an apparent double standard.

Six GWS players received bans and seven others were fined by the AFL for inappropriate skits made at their end-of-season celebrations.

That included sending Raygun in disguise.

Some supporters believe this has opened a can of worms that could see AFL fans turn up to GWS games in 2025 wearing Raygun suits.

“I guarantee fans will attend the first Giants game dressed as RayGun,” one fan posted.

“Then the AFL will have to decide whether to remove those people from the ground because it is ‘in bad taste’.”
