Raye fans will have to be patient until they can hear her long-awaited second album, but that’s not her fault.
The British singer, 27, has revealed that her car was stolen with all her composition books in the trunk.
The Mercury Prize-nominated artist, 27, who took home six gongs at the Brit Awards this year, had been working on the follow-up to her debut album My 21st Century Blues.
Taking to her Instagram on Thursday night, she shared some photos from her birthday celebrations, where she revealed the devastating news.
She wrote: “It’s my birthday and my car was stolen with all my songwriting books in the trunk so no second album anytime soon, love you, bye.”

Fellow musician Miles Graham commented that something similar had happened to him and that music always means more than the car.
In the carousel of stunning photos, one image showed a cake with sprinkles and red icing that spelled out the words, “I’m sorry your car was stolen.”
Another saw the star shining from ear to ear as she held a pink sign that said “Queen for the day” next to some cards.
As she crouched down in a polka dot t-shirt and plaid pants, a stunning backdrop of blue sea and sky could be seen.
In another image she shared with her 1.9 million followers, Raye was sitting next to a table with another cake and was wearing a pink puffy crown.

The Brit School graduate, known for hits such as Prada with Casso and D-Block Europe, has been rising through the ranks for many years, having signed to Polydor Records as a teenager.
She later lent her voice to all five hits by David Guetta and Jax Jones and wrote lyrics for Beyonce and Rihanna.
Despite his talent, his solo work did not reach the same heights and in 2021 he expressed frustration that his label would not allow him to release his debut album yet.
By the end of 2022, he had struck out on his own and his dance track Escapism featuring 070 Shake had gone viral on TikTok and shot up the charts to number one.
