Rashee Rice is expected to receive a multi-game suspension from the NFL following the Kansas City Chiefs star’s 119 mph car crash in Dallas that left him facing eight charges.

The Super Bowl winner turned himself in to police earlier this month after he and another speeding sports car driver allegedly caused a Accident involving half a dozen vehicles. on a Dallas highway in March.

Rice, 24, faces one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision resulting in serious bodily injury and six counts of collision resulting in injury.

But, according to ESPN’s Adam SchefterThe wide receiver also faces disciplinary action from the NFL and the prospect of a lengthy suspension looms for the Chiefs.

Rice could receive a ‘multi-game suspension,’ according to Schefter, and that may lead the Chiefs to select a wider receiver in the NFL Draft later this week.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach own the 32nd pick heading into this week’s draft and need to upgrade their offensive options.

The Chiefs’ 38 drops last season were the most in the NFL and, having already signed free agent Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, they are expected to add more depth at receiver.

Rice’s role in Reid’s offense grew as last season progressed and, along with Travis Kelce, he became one of Patrick Mahomes’ most reliable targets down the stretch.

But his pending legal issues after the car accident in Dallas may mean he misses the first few weeks of next season.

“I think like any position, we’re always looking to get better,” Veach said.

“We place a high priority on the depth of our squad, so we will attack as we do in all positions and try to get the best players we can.”

Since the Chiefs must pick last in the first round, it helps their cause that the wide receiver is among the deepest positions in the draft. Three are expected to crack the top 10 and six or more could crack the top 10 before the first night concludes.

The other priority for Kansas City is left tackle, where Donovan Smith arrived in free agency and the position remains practically vacant. Other positions where the Chiefs could add some depth include running back, tight end and defensive back.

‘Each team’s process is a little different and unique. We have ours and there is always the possibility to refine and adjust things,” Veach said.

“Again, I think in this league because of such a long season, I’m talking about a 20-game season, it’s a marathon, you have to attack every position with the mentality of having that depth because it’s not a matter of if, but when. the players fall.’

The Chiefs could also use more help at running back, even after bringing back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and perhaps another tight end to prepare for life post-Kelce.

The Chiefs opted to keep one of the league’s best defenses intact, re-signing All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones to a gigantic deal along with five other starters.

So after recruiting heavily on defense in recent years, the Chiefs are largely good on that side of the ball, although they could take a late flight against a pass rusher or defensive back.

The Chiefs have the final pick in each round after winning their second straight Super Bowl and third in five years, so unless they trade, their initial pick will be No. 32 overall.

They have late picks in every round except the fifth, where a trade with Dallas last year moved them up, and they also have a compensatory pick.
