The future of Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele is ‘tied to Barcelona, only planning to be part of the roster next season as the Frenchman will leave for Camp Nou this summer’
- Ousmane Dembele reportedly wants to leave the Nou Camp for Paris Saint-Germain
- Barça’s financial situation means they can only afford one on the books
- The club is still waiting for Dembélé’s final decision – which could come as soon as Friday, it has been reported
- Raphinha’s move to Barca depends entirely on Ousmane Dembele .’s future
Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele’s agent has underlined that the player is still considering his next move after a meeting with the Spanish club’s hierarchy this week.
The France international, who will be a free agent next month, has been pressured following recent comments from Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who said he was waiting for a response from Dembele’s camp about their contract offer.
However, the representatives of Barcelona and Dembele did not meet until Monday to discuss proposals.
Barcelona’s summer plans to bring in players will require current players to leave due to their current financial condition.
Ousmane Dembele has not yet made a decision about his future, his agent said on Friday
Laporta told the media: “They have our proposal and a date to decide. It’s a problem we’re having because the agent isn’t responding to the offer. Looks like they’re making a counter offer.’
It was said that Dembele was preparing to leave, and there were rumors that he had put his house on the market and rejected Barcelona’s ‘final’ contract offer.
However, Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko said on Friday: “Ousmane’s future remains open and we will not speculate endlessly. We have been and have always been very respectful to all clubs and will continue to be so as long as the process continues.
It was believed that Frenchman Dembélé (right) wanted to go to Paris Saint-Germain
“When it’s the right time to make a decision, Ousmane will consider the best option for his future.”
It was rumored that Dembele’s departure would pave the way for Barcelona to make a move to Leeds United’s Raphinha. The club’s current financial condition means they are unlikely to have the resources to house both players.
The door to Raphinha would only be open, reports Mundo Deportivo, if Dembélé leaves.
Raphinha would be the option Barcelona would explore if Dembélé left
The Spanish newspaper says the Brazilian is keen to move to the club with his agent, Deco, himself a former Barcelona player, in communication with the club about a possible move.
However, now that Leeds has not been relegated, the price they can impose on the player will be significantly higher than if they had fallen.
The salary demands of the two players respectively ensured that was never a possibility for the club, while Leeds United’s survival in the Premier League kept Raphinha’s asking price well above the £21 million reportedly had been agreed between the two clubs in the event of their relegation to The Championship.
Dembélé’s reluctance to sign a deal all season, a move that led to Xavi allowing the player to leave the squad in January to look for a new club before reintegrating him, had suggested to people he was on his way went to the exit.
