The Texas Rangers won their first World Series in 2023 and it was in part thanks to their scorching month of May, when they finished 18-9. That’s also when fans started to realize that it could be a special year for them. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case this season for the Rangers, as they currently sit under .500 with a negative run differential.
Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about what’s going wrong for the defending World Series champions, including whether they can afford to wait until the trade deadline to bolster their already weakened pitching rotation, and why they can’t count with a healthy Jacob deGrom to return. season.
Also on this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, the guys talk about the controversial ending to the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox game in which an umpire made an unusual call to end the game, Jake talks about watching James Wood playing in person and a fun interaction he had with future Hall of Famer Dusty Baker in the stands at the game.
Jake and Jordan then give their Good, Bad & Uggla of the week, which includes Bryce Harper helping a high school student with his prom proposal, the Toronto Blue Jays getting their home run jacket back, Maysn Winn’s not-so-enthusiastic reaction to the St. Louis Cardinals City Connect uniforms and much more.
