Since moving back to Los Angeles from St. Louis in 2016, the Rams have never hesitated to make bold moves. General manager Les Snead has apparently prospered by turning the NFL around with big trades and free agent signings.
However, Snead said last week that despite the “DNA” that drives the Rams to “attack, step on the gas,” they are going to “put on the brakes a little bit.”
So, as the NFL’s trading period for unrestricted free agents begins Monday, the Rams will likely make more headlines for released players than they could acquire.
Veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner and running back Leonard Floyd have already been released, and star cornerback Jalen Ramsey and wide receiver Allen Robinson could be next to leave via trade or release.
By Wednesday, the start of the new league year, the Rams should be under the $224.8 million salary cap. Cuts and restructured contracts will get them there as the Rams and coach Sean McVay prepare to bounce back from a horrible 5-12 season.
