  • The Rams overcame their offensive woes to beat the 49ers on Thursday.

Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford briefly lost his cool Thursday night while his team was playing the 49ers.

Los Angeles, badly needing a 7-6 win to improve its playoff hopes, struggled to get its offense going all night and finished without a touchdown.

And after the Rams settled for a game-tying field goal early in the fourth quarter, Stafford was visibly upset as he gestured toward coach Sean McVay.

Stafford looked briefly at a tablet, which presumably had a play on it, before throwing his arms up in frustration.

McVay then motioned for Stafford to calm down and the moment seemed to calm down.

In the end, the Rams won ugly in San Francisco by beating their California rivals 12-6, and the hosts fared even worse on offense, totaling just 191 yards.

It’s been a challenging few years for McVay and Co. since winning the Super Bowl in 2022, as they finished 5-12 the following season and lost in the wild card last postseason to the Lions.

However, they are now firmly in the playoff hunt at 8-6 and will finish the regular season against their NFC West foes, the Seahawks.

Meanwhile, the 49ers nearly had their playoff hopes dashed as they fell to 6-8.

It’s been a miserable season for the reigning NFC champions, as Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk have missed much of the year with injuries.

San Francisco’s next three games against the Dolphins, Lions and Cardinals can now be considered must-wins.
