The Las Vegas Raiders have released Isaac Rochell, hours after he took to social media to salute his brother’s military service, with the player calling out the NFL team for posting about him as if he was still on the roster at an awkward time online .
On Tuesday, Las Vegas cut the 28-year-old defensive end to sign cornerback Jack Jones, who had weapons charges dropped in September following his arrest at Boston’s Logan Airport earlier this summer.
Rochell lamented the Raiders’ decision to waive him, but he made a light joke about the situation he suddenly finds himself in now.
Just hours before learning he would become a free agent, the Raiders shared a video and press release about X of Rochell touting his brother’s success and impact in the Air Force, while also wearing the team’s official practice gear .
After announcing the news of his release on social media, Rochell shared his thoughts with fans on how he felt about their tribute video to his brother, Matt.

“This is objectively very bad timing,” Rochell wrote as the caption to a repost of the video.
The player also joked about his new-found status on TikTok, explaining that November 14 is an unlucky day for him.
”When I wake up this morning, this shows up on my timeline,” Rochell said of the Raiders’ tribute video to his brother. “Last year November 14, I was released by the Browns and I looked at my wife and thought, ‘Oh, that’s crazy, a year ago today I was released.’ And then I got this text message. You are joking.’
However, Rochell, who previously played for the Chargers, Colts and Browns, remained optimistic about his NFL future, saying he is “excited about the next chapter” of his career.
Moreover, according to the player himself, his wife is due to give birth within a few weeks.

Jones was a fourth-round pick by the Patriots out of Arizona State in 2022 and has played 121 defensive snaps in five games (no starts) this season.
Jones reportedly missed a team curfew before the Week 9 game against the Washington Commanders and made just 10 appearances in Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt, Germany.
He has recorded 42 tackles, two interceptions and seven passes defended in 18 career games (two starts).
Jones returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers on October 2, 2022 at Lambeau Field.
