Raheem Sterling will turn down a big-money move to Saudi Arabia and fight for his career at Chelsea.
The 29-year-old was booed by Chelsea fans three times during their 4-2 FA Cup quarter-final win over Leicester on Sunday.
It was a day to forget for the winger, who missed numerous chances and issued a public apology to fans on social media, after missing a penalty during the match.
Blues fans have criticized Sterling since his £50 million move from Manchester City in 2022, and there has been speculation recently that clubs in the Saudi Pro League may be willing to offer him a lucrative move.
Sterling is determined to make a success of his time at Chelsea and turn down the chance of a move to Saudi Arabia.
Raheem Sterling ready to fight for his future at Chelsea despite Saudi interest
He was booed off the pitch after a poor performance in Chelsea’s 4-2 win over Leicester.
Sterling missed a penalty, sent another chance wide while one-on-one with the Leicester goalkeeper and was booed after firing a free-kick into the stand.
Sterling, who lost his place in the England squad, has two-and-a-half years remaining on his £300,000-a-week contract at Stamford Bridge.
In a message to Chelsea fans after their win over Leicester, Sterling posted on Instagram: “Apologies for the missed penalty. I will come back 10 times stronger to help the team win and continue to fight for the badge every day.
Chelsea players rallied behind Sterling in response to his message, with messages of support from Cole Palmer, Ben Chilwell and Reece James.
Noni Madueke has hit back at a fan after initially telling Sterling there was “no need to apologize”.
The fan replied to the former PSV Eindhoven player to tell him that an apology was needed from Sterling.
Madueke responded by writing: “Shut up dude, people like you are the problem. »
After a disappointing first season at Stamford Bridge, Sterling’s performances seemed to improve during the first half of this campaign.
However, he has only scored one Premier League goal since the start of December and Chelsea fans have expressed their frustrations with him.
Chelsea fans weren’t happy that Sterling took the penalty and free kick against Cole Palmer
Sterling apologized to Chelsea fans, insisting he would come back “10 times stronger”.
Against Leicester, his problems began with a poor penalty after taking the ball away from Cole Palmer to take the spot-kick.
He then shot wide during a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, only to be booed later after taking a free-kick into the stands – again taking the free-kick past Palmer.
Sterling was once again mocked when Mauricio Pochettino opted to bring out Mykhailo Mudryk instead of the England international.
He was eventually replaced by Madueke after 86 minutes and was booed off the pitch for the third time by his own supporters.
