The pair became fast friends during filming, but things went sour when the radio star, 49, failed to defend Lindsay, 38, against accusations of “diva behaviour”.

Now, Jackie has opened up about the details of her fight with the American actress in her autobiography The Whole Truth.

The media personality said she was mired in a prescription pill addiction during her appearance on the inaugural season of The Masked Singer.

He added: “Lindsay wasn’t in the best of places either, but she and I got along very well.

‘She was unstable too, and I probably was too. Pairing us up was a recipe for disaster.

The Mean Girls star made headlines at the time when reports emerged that she was allegedly being a ‘diva’ on the set of the singing competition.

However, Jackie remained one of his staunchest supporters at the time, saying she was “super protective” of her co-star.

“I supported her when articles started appearing about her being late to set, being difficult, or being irresponsible,” Jackie wrote.

“She was very protective of Lindsay and defended her to the core.”

But their close friendship came to a standstill one fateful day when Jackie was unable to defend Lindsay from derogatory comments made by Wendell Sailor.

The former rugby star, 50, appeared on The Kyle and Jackie O show following his elimination from The Masked Singer in 2019.

“He made a spontaneous joke about how we were late to the shoot because of Lindsay, but he moved on quickly, so I didn’t say anything that would interrupt him. Anyway, he was joking,” Jackie recalled.

“But Lindsay heard the segment and decided I hadn’t stood up for her, and the next thing I knew I was on the end of a barrage of late-night texts from the Hollywood actress about how he’d been a traitor and dumped her.” below.’

Still in the grip of her addiction to Stilnox and Panadeine forte, which she mixed with alcohol, Jackie lashed out at Lindsay via text message.

“I quickly reached my own peak of annoyance and sent a volley in his direction…I got very offended and let him have it,” Jackie said.

The Sydney radio star went on to say she now regrets how she handled the dispute with Lindsay and said she only lashed out because she was “hurt”.

Lindsay did not return to The Masked Singer Australia when it was renewed for a 2020 season, as she was unable to fly to Australia due to Covid travel restrictions.

Interestingly, The Parent Trap star unfollowed fellow judges Jackie, Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes and Dannii Minogue after confirming she had left the show.

She was replaced by Australian comedian Urzila Carlson. Jackie returned for a second season of the franchise, but quit before the third installment.
