Australian radio host Jase Hawkins has revealed some strange moments he experienced with struggling comedian Russell Brand.
On Monday’s episode of KIIS 101.1’s Jase & Lauren, he detailed his memories of Brand’s visit to Australia to promote his film, Get Him To The Greek.
Jase said he was hosting the red carpet and afterparty chat at the time, but the British comedian didn’t show up.
“He never made any noise at the after-parties. Jonah Hill had to do it… The next day we were working at another radio station 2DAY FM in Sydney and Kyle and (Jackie O) were making breakfast and he (Brand) went wild… For the interview.
Jase then described how Russell engaged with the staff when he arrived at the studio.
“He was kind of mozzed and flirted a lot with the girls in the office. My wife worked there at the time. She was in the little kitchenette, making breakfast and came in and was very, very flirtatious,” Jase said.
“He would come and give them little compliments but in the style of Russell Brand. Not practical.
The breakfast radio host then told the story of the British comedian who locked himself in the office toilet.

According to Jase, Brand stayed in the bathroom for 20 minutes, posted his bodyguard outside the door to prevent anyone from entering, and missed his on-air interview.
“He finally came out (of the bathroom). He looked away from his dial. That’s when he said he was no longer drinking alcohol and drugs, but it just didn’t seem legit. I’m not saying guilty or innocent,” the radio host said.
“(The women he flirted with) they laughed about it. That’s what I was saying to Lou (my wife) last night, we were talking about it… Everyone got caught up in this whole Russell Brand thing.
Two weeks ago, Brand was anonymously accused by several women of serious allegations, including rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse.

The comedian denied the allegations on his popular YouTube channel, saying his relationships were “always consensual.”
The remainder of Brand’s UK tour was delayed and his sponsors chose to distance themselves from him.
The BBC and Channel 4 have removed content featuring the comedian from their streaming platforms.
Video platform YouTube has taken action against Brand’s channels, preventing them from generating revenue through advertising due to an alleged violation of its “creator accountability policy.”

Two weeks ago, Brand was anonymously accused by five women of serious allegations, including rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse.
YouTube said this suspension of monetization applied to Brand’s account, which has 6.6 million subscribers, and was the result of “serious allegations against the creator.”
The Google-owned video service clarified that this decision extends to all channels associated or managed by Russell Brand.
In recent years, Brand has developed a large online audience by creating videos offering alternative viewpoints on media bias, Covid-related lockdowns, and corporate and government abuses of power.
Four women made accusations of sexual assault against Brand between 2006 and 2013, and a fifth person later filed a complaint dating back to 2003.
So far, none of Brand’s accusers have been publicly identified.
