Racing magnate John Singleton is ditching his horse racing empire and his Central Coast home for the beach.
Singleton, 81, is putting his $100 million empire up for sale after revealing the promise he made to himself regarding his exit from the sport.
“I feel sorry for those old men at the races who look grumpy,” said Singleton, 81. news corporation. “I always said I would sell when I’ve been doing this for 50 years.”
Singleton is selling over 100 of his horses at Strawberry Hill Stud, featuring mares, colts, colts, and racehorses. He’s also putting his house in Mount White up for sale. Sales are expected to earn a combined sum of $100 million.
His racing career has seen him own outstanding horses including More Joyous, Gypsy Kingdom and Strawberry Road.

Reflecting on his time in racing, Singleton said: ”It’s been a great ride.
“The ups and downs of life, all contained in a business where horses run in circles,” he said.
Singleton plans to ‘end up on a beach’ and is looking for an uncrowded spot in Australia.
Initially, he intended to spend six months of the year in Hawaii, but ended up selling his $9.3 million luxury beach house in February 2022 because he missed his homeland.
‘There was no horse racing, no NRL and no newspapers. What the hell are you going to do there?’ he said.
The six-time married Singleton, a former publicist and TV and radio entrepreneur, recently split from girlfriend Kim Dennis but has since found new love.
The 81-year-old was reluctant to digress about the new relationship, but said: “I won’t be on the beach alone.”
