Rachel Weisz shines in a red dress as she arrives elegantly at the New York City premiere of Dead Ringers

Date:

Rachel Weisz was stunning in red when she arrived for the premiere of her new Amazon Prime series Dead Ringers Monday night in New York.

The British actress, 53, showed off her flawless figure in a halter-length gown during a photo op at the Metrograph Theatre.

The beauty styled her long raven locks off her face and fell sleekly on her back.

Wise, who is married to James Bond star Daniel Craig, kept her makeup light with a touch of mascara, blush, and lip color.

The six-episode Dead Ringers is a gender-swapped adaptation of David Cronenberg’s 1988 psychological thriller of the same name, which starred Jeremy Irons as twin gynecologists who run an infertility clinic.

Weisz revealed that she was ‘obsessed’ with the original movie and that she was the one who brought the idea of a female-led remake to Amazon.

Amazon first announced the project in August 2020, granting a direct-to-series order, with production set to begin in August 2021.

Set in New York, Weisz plays Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twins who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes.

They have worked as a team to push the boundaries of medical ethics – trying to challenge age-old practices and bringing women’s health care to the fore.

She explained that the key to the plot is the relationship between them.

“Beverly is altruistic, thoughtful, careful, and kind,” she said. You want to change the way women give birth.

“Elliott is very, very different. She is not altruistic and pushes the boundaries of what is moral.

Dead Ringers is produced jointly by Amazon Studios and Annapurna Television, with series creator Alice Birch serving as series showrunner and executive producer.

David Cronenberg’s original film was adapted from the 1977 novel Twins by Bari Wood and Jack Geasland, which was loosely based on the true story of twin gynecologists Stewart and Cyril Marcus.

Both were found dead in July 1975 in separate rooms in Cyril’s Manhattan apartment aged just 45, with Stewart dying of a barbiturate overdose and Cyril suspecting possible suicide in a suicide pact after his brother was found dead.
