Rabbitohs superstar Latrell Mitchell charged with dangerous contact on Josh Addo-Carr from Good Friday clash – here’s why he won’t miss any NRL matches

NRL superstar Latrell Mitchell faces a fine of up to $2500 after he was charged over the collision that left Josh Addo-Carr with a sickening concussion.

Mitchell, 26, was hit with a grade one dangerous contact charge by the match review committee on Saturday after his hip struck Addo-Carr in South Sydney’s 20-16 win on Friday. Holy.

Running to make a cover tackle, the defender collided with the Canterbury winger as he crossed the touchline just before half-time.

Addo-Carr fell face-first to the ground as Mitchell attempted to grab the Bulldogs winger and hold him up.

Referee Gerard Sutton could be heard telling the bunker that it looked “incidental”, but the match review committee deemed the challenge dangerous and worthy of a charge.

Mitchell is not at risk of missing games because of the charge and can accept a $1,800 fine if he pleads guilty early.

It’s a different story for Addo-Carr, who will miss next Friday’s round five clash against the Sydney Roosters due to the NRL’s concussion protocols.

In relief scenes for coach Cameron Ciraldo, he was seen walking freely along the bench after halftime.

Meanwhile, Bulldogs trade prop Kurtis Morrin is also at risk of missing the Roosters clash and faces a three-game suspension for a dangerous throw on Cameron Murray.

Morrin was sent to the sin bin in the second half as a result of the tackle, but can reduce his ban to two games with an early guilty plea.

Rabbitohs center Jack Wighton avoided a charge after suggestions of a possible hip-drop tackle on Canterbury second rower Jacob Preston.

Coach Jason Demetriou was relieved at the final whistle as South Sydney avoided four straight defeats with a hard-fought win.
