Netflix favorite Jonathan Van Ness has spoken for the first time about his experience with Ozempic-like weight loss jabs.
On Instagram, the Queer Eye star told her 5.4 million followers that they had a “confession to make,” admitting that they were “taking GLP-1 or a weight loss drug.”
GLP-1 is the hormone that Ozempic and other weight loss medications mimic.
Known as GLP-1 agonists, the medications increase feelings of satiety and reduce the amount of food the user consumes.
The stylist, 37, has been open about weight fluctuations in recent years.
In 2022, Van Ness, who identifies as non-binary, told his one million TikTok followers how to lose five pounds by exercising and improving his diet with the help of a nutritionist.
In the latest post, Van Ness said: “If you’ve been following me for a long time, you’ll know that I’ve gained and lost weight several times, very publicly.”
‘And at this point in my life, I knew I needed a little extra help.
‘With everything I’ve been through publicly and privately over the last few years, I gained quite a bit of weight, I didn’t feel well and most importantly my binge eating disorder was out of control.

“I consistently made decisions I regretted. Impulsive eating and binge eating made me feel really bad, depressed and out of control.’
They added: ‘I spoke to my doctor about it and he told me about GLP-1, which I tried a pill version of a couple of years ago and it didn’t work for me.
‘So now it was like “let’s try one of the takes.”
‘This was in September and I felt better immediately. For the first time in my life I have had control over my food intake.
‘It has helped me enormously and that is part of why I want to be so honest with you because I know how important it is to ask for help and how much it can change your life in terms of healing.
‘Now I’m thinking. Could people abuse these medications? How do you get up and how do you get off? So many questions!’
The TV favorite previously opened up about her struggle with binge eating disorder, one of the most common eating disorders.
The condition involves episodes of compulsive and excessive eating, often to the point of causing physical pain or extreme discomfort.
In an Instagram post shared in October 2022, Van Ness said: ‘I’ve always been a hot, sexy slut, but at the same time I’ve been battling binge eating disorder for a long time.
“In April, after years of feeling out of control with food, I got help.”
They added: “It’s been interesting because I now prioritize taking time to eat, planning to eat, and actually eating.” It used to be my lowest priority, making me so hungry that when I ate, I would binge.
“This has been and continues to be a healing journey that I am grateful to be able to be on.”
