A gunman is on the loose in a Queensland hospital, prompting a lockdown.

Queensland police were called to Logan Hospital, southeast of Brisbane, at 11.20am amid reports a man armed with a rifle was inside.

People have locked themselves in rooms as the lockdown continues.

A witness said the man was armed with a rifle.

“Everyone rushed in and was taken out of the waiting room and behind a solid door. The hospital is in code black,” they wrote on social media.

“The gunman is outside. We’ve been locked in for almost an hour.”

A police spokesman told Daily Mail Australia: “We are responding to an incident.

“No one is allowed in or out of the hospital. There are several units on site. No injuries have been reported.”

Public access to the hospital has been restricted and the incident is ongoing.

More to come.
