A two-year-old American Staffordshire cross named Loki has been confiscated by Moreton Bay Council in Queensland after he attacked a woman and her dog on Sunday.

A woman and her dachshund were attacked by an out-of-control American Staffordshire cross, making it the fourth dog attack in a week.

Lee-Anne Shaw was walking her dachshund in Caboolture, southeast Queensland, when the canine jumped its owner’s fence and attacked the couple on Sunday.

Ms Shaw said Staffy knocked her to the ground before attempting to savagely attack her dog, Chelsea.

Staffy’s owner Jerimie Tipler denied her two-year-old dog, Loki, was dangerous, saying he “just doesn’t like other dogs trying to get to him through the fence.”

Moreton Bay Council has since taken possession of Loki and is now trying to find a correct course of action for the dog, who was also unregistered.

Tipler said the council told him his dog had been deemed a threat after the attack and an investigation is now underway to decide Loki’s fate.

Ms Shaw’s attack is the fourth attack in a week in Australia and the first occurred in Carindale when a dog was mauled to death on Wednesday.

Jordan Garrett was attacked by three dogs in Melbourne’s south-east on Thursday and had his arm cut off by Annmarie Walters’ own “large breed pit bull” in Townsville on Friday.

Ms Shaw said Loki knocked her down and immediately began attacking Chelsea, who was almost split “in half” during the attack.

“While I was on the ground, he kept jumping on me and kept trying to attack my dachshund,” she said. told 7News.

‘I know that dog came very, very close to breaking my dog in half because he was just inches away from his back legs. He just kept biting her.

Tipler insisted his dog was a “good boy” who posed no threat to the public.

“He does what he’s told, when he’s told,” she said.

Moreton Bay Council said it has a zero tolerance policy for dangerous dogs.

Ms Shaw strongly supported the idea that Loki should be “put down at the drop of a hat” due to his size.

Tipler apologized for any harm his dog had caused.

The attacks in Australia have reignited debate over whether the list of restricted dog breeds should be expanded.

Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, Japanese Tosa, American Pit Bull Terrier and Presa Canario are the only breeds currently restricted in Queensland.

“It’s not something I personally particularly care about, but I’m open to hearing discussions about it at the state level,” one local wrote on Reddit.

“I think you can argue that some breeds have a tendency to be more anxious and aggressive, which doesn’t mix well if the breed is also large enough to cause serious harm if they want to.”

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Moreton Bay Council for comment.
