Queensland Premier Steven Miles has proven he is Australia’s strongest politician with an impressive bench press in the gym.

Miles, 46, took to social media on Sunday afternoon to post a video of his strength training.

He captioned the video: ‘By popular demand: 100kg bench press challenge with Jon Wyeth and the Brisbane Wolf. Thanks for spotting us, guys.

Miles says in the clip that his heaviest bench press up until this effort was 85kg, and then proceeds to bench press 100kg.

‘Curse! That’s heavier than I can bear!’ one follower posted in disbelief.

“That’s a Premier,” commented another.

Great truck!! Respect,” responded a third.

In March, Miles divided Australians after showing off his muscular physique while volunteering at a school work bee.

Miles was photographed carrying a rubbish bin at Dakabin State School in his Murrumba constituency, north of Brisbane.

Although he was normally hidden under a suit during press conferences, his ripped physique was on full display with his biceps bulging out of his T-shirt.

Mr Miles, wearing a Brisbane Broncos cap and shorts, looked in high spirits as he smiled from ear to ear while carrying a bin.

The professional photo was uploaded to his Facebook page on Sunday.

“Bee working in P&C at Dakabin State School this morning,” the caption read. ‘PS: Let’s go Broncos.’

Some social media users were envious of his apparent “thirst trap photo,” while others accused him of turning an act of goodwill into a public relations opportunity.
