Queen Mary of Denmark suffered an embarrassing but rare style mistake on Wednesday when she stepped out at an event in Copenhagen.

The Australian-born queen smiled as she arrived at Nordatlantens Beygge in the country’s capital, although she unknowingly had pink lipstick smeared all over her five front teeth.

While he looked smart, the marks on his teeth were clearly visible in the photos and no one seemed to warn the royals in advance.

It is unknown how long the lipstick remained on Mary’s teeth, whether someone finally pointed it out to her, or whether she noticed it herself.

The 52-year-old opted for a smart business casual outfit featuring high-waisted black pants, a cream blouse and a black coat with a pair of pointed-heeled patent leather pumps and a small black clutch.

The mother-of-four attended the event with her husband, King Frederick, 56, which was celebrated by Iceland’s presidential couple, who are currently on a two-day state visit to the country.

President Halla Tómasdóttir’s trip to Denmark marks Frederick’s first state visit since he ascended the throne in January this year, following the historic abdication of his mother, Queen Margaret II.

The latest mistake is the latest in a year of unfortunate events for Queen Mary, following a series of uncomfortable public incidents.

In August, Mary hid her face days after a riding accident left her with painful scratches along her jaw.

She carefully matched her Band-Aid to her skin tone, but its rough texture was hard to miss when she arrived at former court chief Per Thornit’s funeral in Copenhagen.

The large bandage covered a scratch that palace insiders say he suffered while riding.

But that was not all.

In July, Maria was left visibly shaken after a motorized scooter plowed into a crowd and knocked her to the ground during her royal visit to Greenland.

She was greeting her fans in Nuuk, the country’s capital, when she was hit by a scooter driven by an elderly man.

Mary’s youngest children, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, were just meters away when the monarch fell to the ground, horrifying onlookers.

And on June 5, the 175th anniversary of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Denmark, the Australian-born royal looked stylish in a wide-brimmed hat that would have sparked some fun memories.

Mary has worn the coral hat twice since 2004 and both times had trouble keeping it on her head in an unexpected breeze.

This time, however, the 52-year-old managed to keep the daring accessory secure, but looked quite uncomfortable the entire time.

The Queen first wore the hat designed by milliner Susanne Juul at a reception the day before she married Frederik.

Mary took the mistake in good humor and laughed when a security guard handed it back to her.

The mother of four wore the hat again in 2006 during a visit to the Danish island of Bornholm.
