Queen Mary of Denmark led the way for European royalty in the French capital on Friday.

European royalty flocked to Paris today as excitement builds ahead of the start of the 2024 Olympic Games.

Queen Mary of Denmark, wearing an elegant white dress and red blazer, led the ceremony in the French capital, while Queen Mathilde and King Philippe of Belgium also took part in the celebrations.

The Olympics will officially kick off tonight with a glittering ceremony in Paris, but that hasn’t stopped the royal family from marking the occasion in anticipation.

Ahead of the opening, Queen Mary, 52, appeared in high spirits as she stepped out to attend the torch relay this morning.

Meanwhile, Queen Mathilde of Belgium looked equally elegant as she arrived at the Belgian Lotto House in Salons Hoche.

King Felipe looked elegant as always in a navy blue suit jacket that he paired with dark grey trousers.

The couple appeared in high spirits as they were given a tour of the new facilities, which are just a few minutes’ walk from the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées.

The Olympic Games will officially begin tonight, marking the first time in the event’s history that they will not be held inside a stadium.

Instead, it will take place outside an enclosed stadium, with Paris hosting a water parade never before seen during the Olympics.

It is part of a gradual return to royal duties for the 73-year-old since she was taken to hospital on June 23 with minor head injuries and concussion after walking around her Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire. Her doctors believe her injuries are consistent with being hit by a horse.

The Princess Royal, who is president of the British Olympic Association, visited the British team’s pre-Games training base in Saint-Germain-En-Laye early on Thursday.

Anne was the first British royal to compete in the Olympics, and could be seen wearing a Team GB sweatshirt in full support of the team.

She seemed back to her old self and in good spirits as she met and shook hands with some of Britain’s brightest stars, including runners Keely Hodgkinson, Imani-Lara Lansiquot and twins Laviai and Lina Nielsen.

Royal fans dubbed her a “real rock star” as she returned to her engagements with energy after her time away from the public spotlight.

In a speech before the Games on Wednesday, he wished the stars of Team GB “every success and that everything goes as well as they hope.”
