Four police officers were left red-faced after a flirtatious exchange with Queen Mary at the airport.
The glamorous Australian-born queen was several steps behind her husband King Frederik at Nuuk airport when she addressed the men with a cheeky smile.
“You are so handsome!” she said in Danish.
Officers had been at the airport with their sniffer dogs to help ensure the safety of the royal couple.
They shifted uncomfortably on their feet before thanking the Queen for her kind words.
She clarified: “So… (it’s) the dogs.” And the police quickly realized that she had been talking about the canines, not them.
They laughed out loud and seemed to let out a deep sigh that they had been holding during the interaction with the popular Queen.
The moment was captured on camera by Greenlandic state television KNR.
The Queen is known for her love of dogs.
King Frederick and Queen Mary even let a wet dog accompany them in the back seat during their visit to Greenland.
The Queen was praised for the joke by fans who found the exchange good-natured in a video on TikTok.
“Our Queen has a good sense of humor,” said one woman.
Another woman said the exchange made her love the royals even more.
“She got you, great comment,” said another fan.
Queen Mary has made no secret of her love of dogs over the years, stopping to pose and talk to many of them during her royal engagements.
She and King Frederick even shared the back seat of the car with a wet Border Collie during their trip to Greenland.
Mary’s brazen exchange with police came days after she was hit by an electric scooter on the street.
The Queen, her youngest children Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine and King Frederik were gathered with the public when the accident occurred.
According to local media, the incident was classified as an accident by the police, who said that the elderly man driving the scooter accelerated by mistake.
