Queen Margrethe has a good voice when she plays a song at the Marselisborg Palace on her 79th birthday

Queen Margrethe proved that she had a good voice when she conjured up a song from the porch of the Marselisborg palace on her 79th birthday.

Flanked by her son Crown Prince Frederik, daughter-in-law Crown Princess Mary and their four adorable children, the Danish prince beamed as she waved to the crowds that had gathered for the special occasion in Aarhus at noon.

It is the second birthday she has celebrated without her 50-year-old husband, Prince Henrik, by her side after he passed away last year.

Her obvious enthusiasm and passion for singing turned out to be contagious, with eight-year-old Princess Josephine emulating her grandmother's raised arm as she sang along.

During the appearance on the balcony, Queen Margrethe received a small bouquet of flowers from Princess Isabella (11) with a patriotic Danish flag.

The family was all well-dressed for the occasion, with the Danish queen wearing a smart gray skirt suit, a bright blue blouse and a brown woolen coat.

Her daughter-in-law Princess Mary, 47, opted for a jade green belt dress with a white pattern, which she combined with a free green coat and a dash of red thanks to her lively nail polish.

She wore her brunette locks loose and naturally wavy, while her mother-in-law swept her locks into a chic updo.
