Along with her husband, King Felipe VI, the stylish queen, 50, opted for a matching pencil skirt and blouse for the event at Casa Mediterraneo in the Spanish city.

The royal family’s midi skirt had a slit at the back, while her elegant pink blouse had a round neckline and billowing sleeves held at the wrists with eye-catching gold buttons.

King Felipe, 55, and Letizia were captured side-by-side as they walked through the throngs for the annual awards.

The prizes were created in 1982 and are awarded to a total of 10 experts, all of whom are related to different fields of science.

The royal couple has had a busy week and was present at the presentation of the ‘Digital Portal of Hispanic History’ at the Royal Palace in Madrid on Tuesday.
