A Qantas flight was forced to turn back and crew members were taken to hospital after an ‘unusual smell’ was detected on board.

The QF1798 flight from Brisbane to Rockhampton on Sunday evening had to return to the Queensland capital after cabin crew noticed a strange odor in the plane’s galley.

Five cabin crew members were assessed by paramedics on arrival in Brisbane after reportedly being hit by fumes on board.

Two were taken to hospital for further medical checks. They were released last night,” a Qantas spokesman said.

“No passengers were bothered by the smell. They will all be rehoused on flights this morning.”

Passengers had to spend the night in Brisbane and travel to Rockhampton on Monday morning.
