Vladimir Putin claimed that the United States was responsible for the Nord Stream pipeline explosion, but gave no evidence in his interview with Tucker Carlson.
On September 26, 2022, explosions destroyed three of the four strands of the Nord Stream pipeline, essentially destroying the main energy link between Russia and the West.
Russia reportedly believes the repairs will cost at least $500 million, but the Kremlin has not yet confirmed that the pipes will be repaired. The Nord Stream project is a pair of undersea gas pipelines that run under the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany to supply natural gas to Western Europe.
During a two-hour interview with ousted Fox News host Tucker Carlson released Thursday, Putin accused the CIA of blowing up the pipeline.
Carlson asked the Russian president who blew up Nord Stream, to which Putin replied: “Surely so.”
Vladimir Putin claimed that the United States was responsible for the Nord Stream pipeline explosion, but gave no evidence in his interview with Tucker Carlson.
Carlson then asked if he had any evidence that NATO or the CIA were responsible for the attack, but Putin refused to provide it. “You know, I won’t go into details, but people always say in these cases, look for someone who is interested,” Putin said.
“I was busy that day. I didn’t blow up Nord Stream. But thanks,” Carlson joked.
Putin said: “You personally may have an alibi, but the CIA has no such alibi.”
Carlson then asked if he had any evidence that NATO or the CIA were responsible for the attack, but Putin refused to provide it.
“You know, I won’t go into details, but people always say in these cases to look for someone who is interested,” Putin said.
“But in this case, we should not only look for someone who is interested, but also someone who has capabilities, because there may be many people interested, but not all of them are capable of sinking to the bottom of the Baltic Sea and carrying out this explosion .’
‘These two components should be connected. Who is interested and who is capable of doing it,” said the Russian president.
The US government has strongly denied accusations of involvement in the attack on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 oil pipelines.
On September 26, 2022, explosions destroyed three of the four strands of the Nord Stream pipeline, essentially destroying the main energy link between Russia and the West.
Tucker pressed Putin: “If you had evidence and presumably gave your security or Intel services, you would say that NATO, the US, the CIA and the West did this, why wouldn’t you present it and have a propaganda victory ?”
The President of Russia said: “In the propaganda war, it is very difficult to defeat the United States because the United States controls all the media in the world and many European media.”
‘The ultimate beneficiaries of the largest European media outlets are the American financial institutions. You do not know? Therefore, it is possible to participate in this work, but the cost, so to speak, is prohibitive.’
‘We can simply focus our attention on our sources of information and we will not get results. It is clear to everyone what happened then. Even American analysts talk about it directly. It’s true,’ she said.
Blame for the attack was initially placed on the United States, Russia, the Ukrainian secret services and an anonymous businessman in Ukraine. All three countries have vehemently denied responsibility.
A convoy of six Russian warships was reportedly sighted near the Nord Stream pipeline just five days before it was sabotaged.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was deliberately kept out of the loop, according to a CIA report shared by Jack Teixeira, a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, on the chat platform Discord.
A report by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh claims that the United States was responsible for the attacks on the Nord Stream oil pipeline. Navy divers allegedly planted the explosives in June, using NATO exercises as cover. They were then detonated remotely in September, it is claimed. The White House and the CIA have strongly denied the report.
Russia has also been accused of carrying out the Nord Stream gas explosions. Explanations range from divers to spy submarines and underwater drones, with one possible reason crippling Europe’s winter energy supply.
Teixeira, 21, was arrested in April for leaking the material and faces trial for sharing national secrets.
According to its document, the CIA reported: “Everyone involved in the planning and execution reported directly to (defense chief) Zaluzhny, so Zelensky would not have known about it.”
Other sources have reported that Roman Chervinsky, a colonel in Ukraine’s special operations forces, was behind this, but Zelensky did not know this.
Pulitzer journalist Seymour Hersh theorized that US Navy divers placed C4 explosives on three Nord Stream pipelines in June 2022, which were detonated three months later using a sonar buoy that transmitted a signal that triggered the bombs.
The White House repeatedly denied this claim, calling it “completely false and complete fiction.”
