Russia needs only three missiles to destroy British civilisation, a leading pro-Putin MP and propagandist has claimed in his latest vitriolic attack on NATO.

Yevgeny Popov has fiercely criticised US plans to deploy SM-6 surface-to-air missiles and Tomahawk cruise missiles, as well as hypersonic weapons being developed in Germany.

Popov, on Kremlin-controlled Russian state television, listed seven specific targets in England and Scotland, while stressing that “all European capitals are at risk,” and blamed the planned US deployment in Germany.

He warned: “Special attention should be paid to Britain, our traditional enemy, as a significant part of the (Russian) Northern Fleet will work against (the UK).”

Detailing the possible targets, he said: ‘Washington has put under attack not only London but also Manchester, Birmingham, the largest naval base at Devonport, the Clyde in Scotland, where the King stores his Trident nuclear missiles, Portsmouth, as well as Chatham Dockyard in Kent.

“This is Britain at its most vulnerable,” he added. “Basically, three missiles would be enough to bring this civilisation down,” he said without giving further explanation.

The propagandist claimed that Russian cities were at direct risk as a result of the US decision to deploy SM-6, Tomahawk missiles and “hypersonic weapons under development” from 2025.

“The Pentagon will deploy missiles in Germany that pose a direct threat to Russia, reaching St. Petersburg, Kazan, Moscow, Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg,” he said, listing major Russian cities.

But he threatened: “It is not difficult to guess the geography of the response if the White House’s plans become reality.”

«All European capitals are in danger from our missiles in Kaliningrad: Berlin, Warsaw, all the Baltic republics, Paris, Bucharest, Prague…

“Of course, also the American bases in Germany… Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Patch Barracks (Stuttgart), Spangdahlem, (and) Ramstein.”

He accused the “Western bloc” of misinterpreting the impact on Russia of the US decision, which was highlighted at the recent NATO summit in the United States.

“There was no reaction, there was no reflection and there was no attempt to analyse the implications,” he said.

«A quick study of missile specifications is enough to realize that the United States is throwing Europe into the crucible of a world war with mutually guaranteed destruction.»

This comes after Russia warned that European capitals “are potential victims” if the United States deploys long-range missiles on the continent, following an announcement by the United States and Germany that they will begin distributing the missiles in 2026.

In a video posted by a Russian state television journalist on Saturday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia has the means to deter the deployment of long-range U.S. missiles in Europe.

In response to journalist Pavel Zarubin’s question about the possibility of the United States deploying hypersonic missiles in Europe, Peskov replied: “We have enough potential to deter such missiles, but the capitals of those (European) states are potential victims.”

Russia said Thursday it would act to counter a planned U.S. deployment of long-range missiles in Germany, as it views the NATO military alliance’s actions as a serious threat to Russia’s national security.

Briefing Russian news agencies on the results of the NATO summit in Washington on Wednesday, Peskov said: “The North Atlantic alliance has once again very clearly confirmed its essence.

‘It is an alliance created in a time of confrontation with the aim of maintaining the confrontation.

“As a result, tensions on the European continent are rising,” he added, saying the Kremlin was watching as NATO’s military infrastructure moved closer.

The United States and Germany had announced at the NATO summit that they would begin deploying long-range fire capabilities in Germany in 2026 to show their commitment to European defense as Russia continues to wage its war on Ukraine.

They said the “episodic deployments” were in preparation for a longer-term stationing that would include SM-6s, Tomahawk cruise missiles and hypersonic weapons with a longer range than current capabilities in Europe.
