Vladimir Putin attacks Ternopil as the city’s most famous locals, Tvorchi, perform at the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool
Vladimir Putin launched an attack on Ternopil in Ukraine just before the town’s most famous locals, Tvorchi, performed in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Warehouses came under Russian missile fire and two people were injured, Ternopil Oblast Governor Volodymyr Trush confirmed.
The affected and burned warehouses are reported to belong to commercial businesses and a religious organization.
Ten minutes before performing inside Liverpool Arena, Tvorchi posted on Instagram citing reports that Ternopil in western Ukraine had been attacked.

After performing, Tvorchi posted again, saying: ‘Ternopil is the name of our hometown, which was bombed by Russia as we sang on the Eurovision stage about our hearts of steel, our indomitability and our will.
“It is a message for all the cities of Ukraine which are bombarded every day. Kharkiv, Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Uman, Sumy, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Odessa, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Kherson and all others.
“Europe, unite against evil for peace!”
Eurovision commentator Timur Miroshnichenko said: “Well done, boys!” For Ternopil, which is bombed now, for Mariupol, which was bombed a year ago. For all the cities and all the inhabitants of our country!’
