Green Day announced Thursday that they will return to Australia for their first local tour in eight years.

The American rock band announced on Instagram that they will bring their Saviors stadium tour Down Under in March 2025 after promising to return to the country a year ago.

Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool, who last performed here in 2017, will kick off the Australian leg of their tour in Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on March 1.

They will then fly to Engie Stadium in Sydney on March 3 and CBUS Super Stadium on the Gold Coast on March 5.

Green Day will celebrate 20 years since their hit album Dookie, followed 10 years later in 2004 by their hit punk rock opera American Idiot.

Fans can enjoy all of the band’s greatest hits from their 1987 inception in Rodeo, California, through their 2024 album Saviors.

Californian rockers AFI will tour with Green Day as support, with local Australian acts yet to be confirmed.

Fans will get their first chance to secure tickets during the artist pre-sale which kicks off on September 16 at 1:00pm for Gold Coast, 2:00pm for Melbourne and 3:00pm for Sydney.

Vodafone and CommBank MasterCard pre-sales will open on 17 September at 10am for Gold Coast, 11am for Melbourne and 12pm for Sydney.

Live Nation will hold its pre-sale on September 19 at 11am for the Gold Coast show, 12pm for Melbourne and 1pm for Sydney.

Finally, tickets will be available to the general public on September 20 at 12pm in Gold Coast, 1pm in Melbourne and 12pm in Sydney.

Green Day were last expected to play in Australia in 2020 during their Hella Mega Tour, but their tour was cancelled due to widespread COVID restrictions.

At the time they were planning to play four stadiums in Australia and would be joined by other punk rockers such as Fall Out Boy and Weezer.

Green Day last set foot on Australian soil in 2017 during their Revolution Radio Tour.
