A fierce debate has been reignited over whether children should be allowed in pubs after a boy brazenly stole a woman’s $2 coin from a pool table.
The pub visitor had placed the gold coin on the table moments before the girl ran towards her and her friends and left with the money.
“I’m at the pub and we put our $2 coin on a pool table and a little boy grabbed it and ran off with it, the little c**t,” the woman said in a shared video. to Tik Tok.
“We approached the mother to tell her that your son took our $2 coin and she said, ‘Oh, well, I can give you a $1 coin.'” Are you kidding me?
The clip sparked debate among Australians about whether young children should be allowed into licensed venues.
“I’ve never agreed with bringing your kids to the pub. I’ve seen too many kids grow up in the pub, only to spend every day there when they’re adults,” one person wrote.
‘Accept! Pubs are not a place for children,” another person wrote.
‘First of all, why is there a child in the pub?’ added a third.
Others asked why the boy’s mother didn’t return the coin.
‘Why didn’t the father take it from the child and give it back to him?’ one person wrote.
‘When I was a kid I knew the rules of the pub. Never touch money on a pool table. Don’t touch things that aren’t yours either,” another person wrote.
“I’d ask the kid to give it back,” a third agreed.
But others said the woman was exaggerating.
“It’s only $2,” one person wrote.
‘It’s $2, are you kidding me?’ said another person.
“No big deal – kids are going to be kids,” added a third.
The pub-goer (pictured) said she had placed the $2 coin on a table moments before the boy ran towards the group and made off with the cash.
In a second video, the woman said her initial video was made as a “prank” and that the boy returned the coin about half an hour later.
‘I know I was just a kid and kids do s**t and it’s okay. “There were no problems, we were not angry with the mother, we were not angry with the child,” he said.
“The boy was old enough to know not to take things that don’t belong to him.”
The woman explained that the stolen $2 coin was the only one her group had and that the pool table only accepts $2.
‘(The mother) said I only have a one dollar coin and we said ‘don’t worry, everything is fine,’ the woman said.
