Marston’s said it looks like Christmas will be busier than last year as it enters “an exciting new chapter” following the sale of its brewing business.
The pub firm praised good trading over the past six weeks, with sales up 3.9 per cent on the same period last year, while Christmas bookings are “ahead” of 2023.
Marston’s rebounded to profit and reduced its debt after selling its 40 per cent stake in its Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company joint venture with the Danish brewing group.
Chief Justin Platt said the company has entered “an exciting new chapter.”
Marston’s said revenue rose 3 per cent to £898.6 million in the year to September 28. Profits reached £14.4 million after a loss of £30.6 million a year earlier.
