Screen legend Prunella revealed in 2013 that she was struggling with her memory and couldn’t even remember the year she married her husband – that was 1963.
In a 2015 interview with The independent, Tim revealed the heartache when he saw his wife slip away during her fight, and admitted that although he cherished the time he cherished with her, the effects of the disease made communication difficult.
“The sad thing is that you only look at the gradual disappearance of the person you knew and loved and was very close,” he said. ‘If you live from day to day, that is manageable.
“It’s when you start thinking about the past and you think,” Oh, what a shame she can’t do that anymore, “or you can’t talk about it anymore. Then it is sad. “

Tim and Prunella married in 1963, following a meeting on the set of a TV costume drama. Tim had been married recently and had a daughter, Juliet. The couple then had two sons: Sam is an actor and his brother Joseph is a translator.
Today, Prunella’s short-term memory is severely compromised because she often cannot remember things she did or said a few minutes earlier.
Tim’s career is still thriving, because viewers may recognize him best from the EastEnders soap opera when he was the patriarch of Albert Square, Stan Carter until five years ago.
More recently, he was landowner Jeremy Lister in BBC1’s period drama Gentleman Jack this year, and private Godfrey in a trio of Dad’s Army remakes.

WHAT IS DEMENTIA? THE KILLER DISEASE THAT IS SUFFERING TO THEIR MEMORIES
Dementia is an umbrella term used to describe a series of neurological disorders
A WORLDWIDE CARE
Dementia is an umbrella term used to describe a series of progressive neurological disorders (affecting the brain) that affect memory, thinking and behavior.
There are many different types of dementia, of which Alzheimer’s is the most common.
Some people may have a combination of types of dementia.
Regardless of which type is diagnosed, each person will experience his dementia in his own unique way.
Dementia is a global problem, but is most often seen in richer countries, where people are likely to live to very old ages.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE AFFECTED?
The Alzheimer’s Society reports that today more than 850,000 people with dementia live in the UK, more than 500,000 of whom have Alzheimer’s.
It is estimated that by 2025 the number of people with dementia in the UK will increase to more than 1 million.
In the US there are an estimated 5.5 million people with Alzheimer’s. A comparable percentage increase is expected in the coming years.
As the age of a person increases, so does the risk of dementia.
The diagnoses are increasing but many people with dementia are still not diagnosed.
IS THERE A CURE?
There is currently no cure for dementia.
But new drugs can slow their progress and the sooner it is noticed, the more effective are treatments.
