Controversial progressive pundit Briahna Joy Gray was fired from The Hill after she appeared to roll her eyes while interviewing the sister of an Israeli woman taken hostage by Hamas.
‘It finally happened. The Hill has fired me,” Gray said on X on Thursday alongside an image of his termination notice from the outlet.
He added: “There should be no doubt that @RisingHill has a clear pattern of repressing speech, particularly when it is critical of the State of Israel.”
Gray’s firing came on The Hill’s YouTube show after she was criticized on social media for her treatment of Yarden, the sister of Israeli hostage Romi Gonen on October 7.
The former press secretary for Social Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders appeared to roll her eyes and interrupted Yarden when she said she hoped Gray would believe the women who say they were sexually assaulted by Hamas.
Controversial progressive pundit Briahna Joy Gray was fired from The Hill after she appeared to roll her eyes while interviewing the sister of a Hamas hostage.
“I really hope that you, specifically, believe the women when they say they were hurt,” Gonen said.
The political commentator chimed in saying: ‘Alright, thanks for joining. Stay.’
Throughout the interview, Gray attempted to focus on Israel’s actions in Gaza, while Yarden repeatedly stated that he did not want to talk politics and only wanted to raise awareness about his sister and other hostages.
Yarden said: ‘I’m here to talk about my sister; Please help me spread her story. Help me make people understand what she is going through as a woman in 2024.”
Gray had also previously said: “I really hope Netanyahu agrees and Israel agrees to a ceasefire or an agreement that can bring all the hostages home, including his sister.” And I’m sure many people watching are praying for his safety.
X users have been criticizing Gray online, accusing her of anti-Semitism and lack of compassion.
Carly Pildis of the Anti-Defamation League said: ‘The way Brianna Joy Gray scoffs and rolls her eyes at Israeli pain paints a picture of dehumanization.
‘He cannot bear to see Israelis as human beings and deserving of sympathy. “My global Jewish community suffers the consequences of the anti-Semitism that Briahna has spread.”
Bronx Democratic Congressman Ritchie Torres also weighed in and reacted to Gray’s firing.
“I have as much sympathy for Briahna Joy Gray as she does for the hostages,” Rep. Torres said in X. “None.”
Ritchie had previously said: ‘The relative of an Israeli hostage begs Briahna Joy Gray to believe the Jewish women who have been kidnapped, tortured and raped by Hamas.
Romi Gonen, 23, who was kidnapped at the Nova festival in the deadly October 7 attack by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, is pictured with her grandmother Dvora Leshem, 87.
‘Instead of projecting empathy, like a normal person would, Gray rolls his eyes and his mouth drips with contempt. Gray has such a visceral, fanatical hatred of the Jewish state that it makes her callously indifferent to the value of Jewish life.
Meanwhile, Iranian activist Matthew Nouriel said: “Briahna joy gray sums up everything that is wrong with the American left: a lack of knowledge coupled with overconfidence.”
‘Add to that his absolute arrogance and his absolute hatred of Jews, and this is what you get: a narcissistic asshole who thinks this is acceptable. It is a shame.
Gray has said he will talk more about his firing on his podcast, but has blamed his firing on his support for Palestine in X.
The expert said his dismissal was “clearly part of a coordinated effort.”
She reposted a comment from progressive podcast host Krystal Ball that said:
‘Yet another person fired for daring to support Palestinian humanity. I have no doubt that Briahna will continue to find great success outside of the corporate media, but these attempts to silence pro-Palestinian voices are aimed at intimidating those who do not have Brie’s strength and ability to withstand the attacks.’
Gray has not hesitated to express his opinion on Israel and has openly said that he believes it should not exist as a state in its current form.

Gray has not hesitated to express his opinion on Israel and has openly said that he believes it should not exist as a state in its current form.
Last month, during a panel at the Dissident Dialogues festival, he said: ‘When Hamas talks about eliminating Israel, it’s not talking about killing all the Jews.
“It’s about eliminating the idea of a Jewish state: ending a Jewish state, ending an ethno-nationalist state and having a state more like the one we have in the United States of America.”
After the panel, the New Republic reported, Gray told the moderator: ‘This is the most Islamophobic and racist hearing I have ever seen.
He added: “It’s disgusting. I hope someone drops a bomb on this whole building.
