Princess Eugenie has praised the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital for having become a trauma center amidst the coronavirus epidemic for the first time since 1982.

The 30-year-old royal, patron saint of the center, admitted she was “so proud” of the hospital she had during the pandemic and urged her followers to donate to charity.

She wrote: ‘I am so proud of my hospital, the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital, as they have become a trauma center for the first time since 1982 due to the incredibly challenging time we are facing and the unprecedented pressures all hospitals and their staff are facing .

“It has created a Covid-19 fund for the RNOH employees who urgently need our support.

“The aim of the fund is to assist their primary care personnel in every possible way – from providing meals to purchasing essential equipment, to supporting mental health in times of crisis.”

Eugenie was diagnosed with scoliosis and underwent corrective surgery as young as 12 years old, with a pair of 20 cm thick titanium rods placed next to her spine to rebuild it due to a curvature.

The operation resulted in a prominent scar, which Eugenie proudly wore, choosing a backless dress for her marriage to Jack Brooksbank in October 2018.

In an interview before the wedding, the princess said, “I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it’s really special to stand up for that.”

The doctor who performed her surgery was even present at the ceremony, at the invitation of Eugenie.

About the operation, she said, “There are so many emotions and worries running through your mind.

“Can I exercise, or do I look the same, or do I miss a lot of school and am behind? I remember being angry because I couldn’t run and play. ‘

The princess, now a patron of the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital, said she was not always so open about her scar and “did everything to hide it.”

She said, “I remember going back to the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital and showing a little girl who couldn’t sit up straight from her surgery. Her eyes got so big that eventually a huge smile appeared on her face when she saw that I had a huge scar and was standing right in front of her. ‘

Eugenie said her wedding dress should show the scar, which she described at the ‘center’ of her outfit, and that a veil would take her scar away.
