Charles Spencer and his wife Karen, who announced their “immensely sad” divorce in June, have separately shared touching tributes following the loss of their beloved family pets.
Princess Diana’s brother, who lives on the Althorp Estate in Northampton, took to Instagram at the weekend to reveal that his blonde Labrador Otis has passed away.
Earl Spencer shared a picture of the 12-year-old pup sitting on a rug in the monochrome tiled hallway of his home.
He added that Otis was hailed as a “total legend” by the residents of Althorp and that the estate would not feel the same without him.
She wrote: ‘Goodbye to Otis, our wonderful Labrador, who had to be put down last night. He was almost 13 years old.

‘Everyone in Althorp loved Otis. Several people here today have said he was a “total legend”. The place would not be the same without his wise, sweet and intelligent presence. He was extremely special.’
Fans were distraught by the emotional update and took to the comments to try and comfort Earl Spencer.
One wrote: “I’m so sorry. He will always be with you. That’s the magic of dogs.” Another wrote: “I’m so sorry for the loss of your dog,” while a third wrote: “I’m so sorry. Rest in peace.”

She posted a photo of Charlotte Diana on her Instagram page. The 11-year-old was wearing jodhpurs, a navy blue jacket, black riding boots and a hat.
The youngster was photographed holding the reins of her adorable brown and white pony, which was wearing a purple coat with stars.
Charlotte Diana beamed as she stood next to Otis, who was seated and also wearing a matching coat to Roo.
Karen wrote: ‘Last month we had to put down two of our beloved pets here at Althorp – Roo, Charlotte’s first competition pony, and our beloved Labrador Otis.
“Otis was definitely the dog of my life. I can’t believe he’s gone. Here he is with Charlotte in happier times in front of the falconry at the back of the park.”
Fans were left heartbroken by the emotional update and took to the comments to try and comfort Earl Spencer.

Earl Spencer and Karen Gordon, a Canadian philanthropist, were married in June 2011 in the grounds of Althorp, where the late Princess Diana is buried.
The couple had met the previous year on a blind date at a Los Angeles restaurant.
The shocking announcement came amid the release of her book, A Very Private School, a harrowing memoir detailing physical and sexual abuse during her childhood.
