Sienna is a name of Italian origin, perhaps chosen because of the roots of her father, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

It means ‘orange-red’ and could also refer to the fiery hair of the Duchess of York, Sienna’s grandmother.

Beatrice, who had a close relationship with Queen Elizabeth, decided to honor her grandmother with her daughter’s middle name.

Sienna is the late Queen’s 12th great-great-grandchild. Like many of her cousins, she has no royal title.

Only the monarch’s grandchildren through the male line are automatically entitled to the title of HRH.

King Charles could bestow a title on his great-niece if he so wished, but it is unlikely he would ask for one.

However, the girl is officially a “Nobile Donna” and “contessa” – the female version of a count – as a result of her father’s noble ancestry.

In Italy these titles are no longer officially recognised, but can still be used as a sign of respect.

One day, Edoardo will inherit his family’s residence, the 18th-century Villa Mapelli Mozzi palace in northern Italy.

Sienna is currently tenth in line to the royal throne, behind her mother Princess Beatrice.
