Prince William enjoys little moments with Prince George as they watch Aston Villa

Date:

Prince William was pictured enjoying a sweet moment with his eldest child, Prince George, today, as the couple watched Aston Villa’s match against Nottingham Forest.

And the young King, aged nine, proved to be a slice of the old building, as he was seen making the same gestures as his father during the match at Villa Park.

At one point, the Prince of Wales, 40, snapped as if to scream with his hands over his ears. Sure enough, his son was making the same gesture.

During another tense moment, the heir apparently put his hands in front of his mouth as he stared intently in front of him. Again, George was making a similar gesture, looking forward in concentration with his hands next to his mouth.

In another twist, to make George look more like his father’s mini, the pair dressed similarly to the look, both wearing pale blue shirts topped with navy jumpers.

And his interest in football doesn’t stop there: the king is there Chairman of The Football Association (FA), a role he took over from his uncle the Duke of York in 2006.

Prince William has taken a keen interest in all aspects of the game, including his support for the men’s and women’s national teams.

I was looking for clubs. All my friends at school were either Man United fans or Chelsea fans and I didn’t want to follow the factory teams.

I wanted to have a team in the middle of the table that could give me more emotional moments.

Aston Villa has always had a great history. I have friends who support Aston Villa and one of the first FA Cup matches I went to was the Bolton v Aston Villa game in 2000.

“Unfortunately, Villa lost to Chelsea. It was amazing, I sat with all the fans in my red beanie, sat with all the Brummie fans and had a great time.

“It was the atmosphere and the camaraderie and I really felt like there was something I could relate to.”

Prince George is also said to be an “ardent football fan” and has been seen with his parents at England and Aston Villa matches.

George’s love of football was no secret, with the royals celebrating Christmas with sports-themed parties at Kensington Palace and William saying he hoped his eldest son would one day be Villa’s “top scorer”.

The prince’s love for the beautiful game was evident when he attended the European Championship final in June 2021 at Wembley, where England faced Italy.

After joining his parents in the national anthem, George threw up his arms and shouted with pure joy as Luke Shaw steered England to an early lead over Italy in the opening minutes.

But the young king had to be consoled later when his team lost to the Azzurri on penalties, after Roberto Mancini’s men outplayed him throughout the second half.
