A royal expert has said that William ‘doesn’t want to be associated with Harry at all’ after they both appeared at their mother’s Heritage Awards separately.
Duncan Larcombe, former royal editor at The Sun, told Good Morning Britain today that he believes their rift has deepened in recent months, rather than being healed.
The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex made a rare joint appearance at the Diana Legacy Awards at the Science Museum in London.
But none of them were in the room at the same time, even virtually, in what was the 25th anniversary of the event.
Harry appeared via video link, but William was long gone by the time he left the event at 20.15.
“It’s one of the most extraordinary royal engagements (I’ve) ever come across,” Duncan said.

The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex made a rare joint appearance at the Diana Legacy Awards at the Science Museum in London – but William left before Harry joined via video link
“Not only did Harry come in via video link, but only after William had left the ceremony, so William doesn’t want to be associated with Harry at all.
“Unfortunately, this gap appears to have widened rather than improved.
‘Things can change in the Royal Family, but it is difficult. The death of their grandfather (and) grandmother did not bring them together, the Coronation did not bring them together, and now even their mother’s legacy cannot bring them together.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward was also on the show and said she believes Meghan has upset the balance of the royal family.
She said on the show: ‘I think it means something because of Diana’s memory. She famously told her boys, “Please, whatever happens in life, always stay good friends with each other” and that’s exactly where it’s gone wrong.’
‘Harry, William and Kate were like a trio before and then another person comes in and it upsets the balance.
“Other girlfriends of Harry’s, it kind of worked but it didn’t work with Meghan and it upset the balance and I think that’s when things went wrong and they’ve gotten worse and worse, just since it culminated in Harry’s very unpleasant remarks when he published his book and in his book.
Ingrid said that when the couple meet in person again, she thinks they won’t “snag” at each other, but they also won’t talk about their problems.
“It has to happen naturally and it’s not,” she added.
Speaking about the event last night, Ingrid said: ‘William does the serious and Harry does the fun. But the story we’re sticking to is that they can’t even be together via video link.’
The couple then went on to talk about Kate’s Mother’s Day photo blunder.
The royal posted a photo of herself and her children, Prince Louis, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
By the time Harry had attended the event, his brother had already left

Bizarre and outrageous theories about the princess’s health and whereabouts have circulated on social media during her absence, fueled only by the editing grease.
Top image agencies pulled the image from their wires amid concerns the image had been ‘manipulated’ by the source – with Kate later admitting she had ‘edited’ the image.
Duncan believes the public will be ‘quite forgiving’ of the Princess of Wales because she is a popular royal.
Ingrid added that the photo error was the palace’s fault for not double-checking with the future queen about the changes she made to the photo.
‘I blame them, and I think she probably, if she wasn’t such a nice person, would blame them too. I’m sure William is not very happy with his office,” she said.
